La serie Genius Loci di TTOZOI esplora l’interazione tra uomo e natura attraverso un processo creativo unico. Le tele di iuta vengono lasciate per settimane in teche di plexiglass nei sotterranei del Colosseo, dove muffe e microorganismi agiscono liberamente, trasformandole in opere d’arte viventi. Qui, la natura non è solo un soggetto, ma una co-creatrice che imprime segni di vita sulla tela, rendendola parte integrante dell’opera.
Questo approccio ribalta l’idea che la natura debba essere libera, ponendola invece in un contesto controllato dall’artista. Così, Genius Loci diventa una potente metafora della condizione contemporanea, in cui la vita stessa è incanalata da imposizioni economiche e estetiche. La tela non è solo un supporto, ma una culla che accoglie e riflette il ciclo vitale della natura. Con questo progetto, TTOZOI riesce a cristallizzare l’essenza del mondo naturale, evocando lo spirito del Colosseo attraverso segni che rivelano una collaborazione silenziosa tra uomo e ambiente.
The Genius Loci series by TTOZOI explores the interaction between man and nature through a unique creative process. The jute canvases are left for weeks in plexiglass cases in the depths of the Colosseum, where molds and microorganisms act freely, transforming them into living works of art. Here, nature is not just a subject but a co-creator that leaves traces of life on the canvas, making it an integral part of the artwork.
This approach overturns the idea that nature should be free, placing it instead in a context controlled by the artist. Thus, Genius Loci becomes a powerful metaphor for the contemporary condition, in which life itself is channeled by economic and aesthetic impositions.
