Boaz Torfstein comments that his practice is divided between two disciplines: drawing and storytelling. Using imagery of the everyday and his experiential notations, he creates non-linear narratives that are spatially translated through his installation pieces.

Whilst working on Jeruzalemand Mind Gap, Torfstein wrote, “Looking at a current issue while disregarding related history is futile, yet let past experiences determine all future acts and nothing will change.” These two works form part of his series Drawing in Smoke - an eight piece installation made with paper and brass sheets. As a collection, the works endeavour to connect memory, experience and ideologies in relation to the current political climate. The artist has used stencils and hand painting to apply ink on the surface of brass, and manipulated the metal to move your eye over the story abstractly depicted.
