Solveig Settemsdal’s practice moves through the mediums of sculpture, drawing, video, sound and photography. Working with the fluidity and transience of  materials, pliable mediums are readily transformed by surrounding forces, utilising effects of pressure, heat, gravity and light; all of which are given body as integral forces within the work. She aims to meld internal and external spaces, to fold, collapse and reconstruct the solid architecture of our surroundings into the fluid realm of thought, where opposing timescales can exchange behaviours.

Loopis an object without structure or membrane, made of looping hologram glitter through a peristaltic pump. The motion of the liquid is the only thing giving it recognisable shape as an object, being briefly held together by its spin like a temporary glitter planet.

Still Lyesexplores a form of chemical painting, where a reactive pigment changes colour and the structure of the surroundings coalesce into ever shifting forms growing out of a tube. The forms fruit and decay during their short life span.
